A bittersweet centenary

Further medical tests carried out on Monday have confirmed that Belletti will be out for between three and four weeks. The Brazilian will remember his 100th game with Barça with mixed emotions.

Belletti celebrated his 100th game in the Barça colours on Sunday when he replaced Zambrotta in the second half of the match against Mallorca. However, Club doctors today confirmed that the injury he suffered just a short time after coming on will keep him sidelined until well into May. According to the medical bulletin issued on Monday: “The scans carried out on Belletti confirm the diagnostic made yesterday (Sunday) after the match against Mallorca. The player has suffered a 3-4 centimetre tear in the biceps of his right leg. The recovery time is approximately between 3 and 4 weeks”.

Plagued by injuries

Belletti has played much less recently due in large part to the series of injuries that he has suffered since last August. The injuries have been varied, ranging from a dislocated shoulder, to knee ligaments, a twisted ankle and leg muscle problems. This season, Belletti isn’t in luck.

Debut in Santander

Belletti signed for Barça in the summer of 2004 and his debut with the Club was on 29th August in the opening game of the season against Racing Santander. Barça won 0-2 and Belletti provided the pass for Giuly to score the first goal.

One goal

Juliano Belletti has only scored one competitive goal for FC Barcelona but it’s a goal that will be long remembered by all Barça fans. He beat Spanish goalkeeper Almunia to help the Club defeat Arsenal in the 2006 CL final.
