Three vital points

The blaugrana squad have all agreed on the importance of this victory in order to maintain their grip on La Liga and to have won three vital points.

The players have also recognised the importance of the victory over Mallorca to continue the fight for the Liga title.

Messi

“It was such an important goal to get after thinking we would leave with just one point. It’s the type of goal to give you confidence”.
“They played well and made life very difficult for us. It wasn’t the best game; however, our persistence paid off as the goal eventually came”.

Deco

“The team has always had character and desire, despite some people thinking the contrary. The team cannot be accused of not fighting”.
“Mallorca defend very well and are dangerous on the counter. If you score, you find more space, however, when you have to look for a goal, it’s much more difficult”.

Gianluca Zambrotta

“It was a difficult game. Mallorca defended well and it was difficult to find space to create chances”-
“They’re three valuable points for La Liga. I think we played well in difficult circumstances today”.
“The mentality we had was to win the game”.

Gio van Bronkhorst

“In this moment, they are three important points. It was a difficult game and they defended well. The win was vitally important, especially as Madrid lost”.
“We played well, we pressured the opposition at all times and played a quick game. 0-1 would have made it a very difficult game to win”.

Laporta: “We fought until the end”
Joan Laporta praised the team for their valiant effort against Mallorca. “We have to congratulate the players for their effort as they fought right up until the end”. Laporta believes “the penalty save by Valdes changed the game. Barça are a team with aspirations to win the title”. The president recognised that “It took a lot of effort, however, the goal came in the end. Therefore, the hard work paid off”.
For Joan Laporta, “we now have to think about Getafe. This team had demonstrated the ability to keep working, we now have to think of every game as a final”.
