Giuly: “We are concentrated on our own game”

Frenchman Ludovic Giuly told the press that Barça does not fear any of their championship rivals and that the team should continue to concentrate on their own games.

Ludovic Giuly knows that the team has reached a decisive point in the season. Going into the season’s final sprint, all the players this week have been keen to emphasise the importance of concentration. The Frenchman was no different “there are a lot of games remaining - nine in total. Now we are into the final stretch and if we continue with a good attitude and character we can win the league and the cup”.

Confidence

Giuly explained to the press that the team does not fear any of its rivals for the league title. “We are concentrated on our own game. If Madrid win then that’s good for them but we must also win at home. That’s the only thing I think about – I don’t worry how Madrid or Sevilla get on”, said Giuly.

Close ranks

The unity of the dressing room is basic ahead of the final games of the season. Questioned about whether Rikjaard has been more involved this week, the Frenchman explained, “It’s his job. Our play is not perfect now. We need to work together and so does he. He does it to motivate the group. We are happy because it’s been a tough week and that’s very good for Sunday”.

More chances to play

The absence of Ronaldinho could mean more involvement for Giuly. The Frenchman is careful: that’s a decision for Rikjaard. “That’s a question for the boss. I’ve seen that Ronnie is not well. I’m here to play and it depends on the tactics of the team coach”, admitted the Frenchman.

Praise for Cristiano Ronaldo
Following the announcement that striker Cristiano Ronaldo is to stay with Manchester United, the players in the press room were asked about the Portuguese star’s decision to remain in England. Giuly praised the performance of the player this season and expressed the possibility that the doors may be open in the future because “in football things can change”.
