Belletti: “We believe in ourselves”

Wingback Juliano Belletti is convinced that Barça will win the league title and, speaking at a press conference on Thursday, reminded everybody that the Club is top of the La Liga table.

With just nine league matches left, Barça tops the table – for Belletti that’s the only reality. The two-point gap with Real Madrid and any comments from the Madrid players are secondary matters. Belletti has no doubts about Barça’s chances of doing the league and Cup double: “We’re first in the league. We’re in the semi-finals of the Cup and we believe in ourselves”.

However, he admitted that the squad wasn’t firing on all cylinders: “Our football isn’t like other seasons and people are not used to this. But we are training with the same enthusiasm as always”.

Guti’s remarks

Real Madrid’s Spanish international midfielder, Guti, recently said: “Barça is nervous”. Today, Belletti vigorously rejected this comment: “I don’t care what they say. We’re first and they’re the ones who have to worry. How does Guti know if we’re nervous or not”.

Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho is still recovering from the bout of flu that has forced him to miss training this week. Speculation about the fitness of his fellow countryman has angered Belletti, who today took the opportunity to defend him in public: “I’ve seen him and he’s not well. He needs time to recover. We’re always used to seeing him smile – but he’s ill”.
