Sylvinho believes in Barça

Sylvinho is confident that FC Barcelona are going about their work in the right way as the Blaugranas are the only club in the top four whose aspirations to win the title lie in their own hands.

With his usual optimism, the Brazilian full-back said: "The league is still very open. But we are still the leaders after many weeks at the top and we know it will not be easy. Sevilla and Real Madrid are close, but we are first and if the league finished today then we would be the champions."

There are nine games remaining in the Spanish top flight campaign and Barça are ahead by a point and Sylvinho recognises the importance of that. "Everything is in our hands," he explained. "I do not think that we need to change anything."

T raining

11-04-07_Web_equipo_05.jpgRegarding the physical preparation of the club's first team, the 32-year-old believes that "it is good and very professional. We all know what we have to do and what is required. There are professionals in charge of this side of things". He continued by dismissing media criticism about the fitness of the team in general.

Ronaldinho

For the second consecutive day Ronaldinho has not trained due to a fever, but Sylvinho believes that nothing more should be read into the situation. "I think he's fine," the full-back stated. "He is happy and is friends with everyone and enjoys being here. He is an essential player who takes the good with the bad. It would bother me is he was not happy, but he is and the atmosphere around the club and within the squad is good."

The future

Sylvinho then looked ahead to the summer and the long list of names rumoured to be linked to the club. "Barça is the best club in the world and has won the most trophies in the past few years," he stated. "So that is why there are a lot of players that want to come. It is normal and happens every year. We just have to stay focussed and carry on with our work."

Celta and Stoichkov
Sylvinho wished former FC Barcelona star, Hristo Stoichkov , luck in his new role as coach of Celta Vigo. "Hopefully, it will all go very well for him," the ex-Celtista player stated. "They have a great team and some very good players, but are in a difficult situation. The appointment of Stoichkov is a nice surprise for them and I think that they can work very well together."
