14 different goalscorers

FC Barcelona could break their record number of different goalscorers this season as 14 players have already hit the net, leaving them just two short of last term's figure of 16.

The Blaugrana's goals tally has been evenly distributed as the statistics show. Gianluca Zambrotta became the 14th member of the squad to hit the target during the current campaign when he scored the second goal against Recreativo at the weekend.

When the club won the title two seasons ago, 13 different players scored and then rose to 16 last term. Now, with 13 official matches remaining, 11 in the league and at least two in the Copa del Rey, the figures could rise even higher this time around.

Forward thinking

The two main stars in front of goal this season have been Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o. The Brazilian has equalled his personal record by scoring 17 times in 27 matches this year, while the Cameroonian international has hit seven goals in just nine matches after spending five months out of action with a knee injury.

Almost every forward in the first team has also added their name to the record books as Santi Ezquerro, Ludovic Giuly, Javier Saviola, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Lionel Messi have all celebrated goals of their own at some point during the 2006-07 campaign.

Midfield statistics

Another impressive statistic is the number of midfielders that have scored too. Xavi and Andrés Iniesta and five and seven goals respectively in all competitions, with the second leg of the Copa del Rey quarter final against Real Zaragoza worthy of special mention as they netted a goal apiece to send Barça through to the semi finals.

Deco is accustomed to netting regularly has his six this term, while Rafael Márquez has also weighed in with two. Both of the Mexican international's goals have come from headers.

Defenders moving forward

Three defenders have also scored with Carles Puyol, Gio Van Bronckhorst and now Zambrotta all having pushed forward to help the team in attack. Puyol netted in the Champions League against Levski Sofia, while Gio scored against Badalona in the Copa del Rey and Zambrotta opened his account against Recre on Saturday.
