Back back in the semis

This will be the Club’s first Spanish Cup semi-final appearance since the 2000/2001 season. Possible opponents are Deportivo, Getafe, Betis and Sevilla.

The great comeback in the Romareda catapulted Barca into the semi-finals of the Spanish Cup for the first time since the 2000/01 season, when Carles Rexach’s Barca were finally eliminated by Celta. The last time Barca won the Cup was in the 1997/98 season, with Louis Van Gaal in charge
.
Nine years on, Frank Rijkaard’s Barca will have to face one of Deportivo, Getafe, Betis and Sevilla to reach the final.

Troubles in the Ruiz de Lopera

The Seville derby match between Betis and Sevilla, one of the other quarterfinal matches, had to be abandoned in the 57th minute after Sevilla coach Juande Ramos appeared to be hit by an object thrown from the crowd. The Spanish FA will now have to rule on what action is to be taken. Barca are due to play Seville in the Sánchez Pizjuán, this Saturday at 10 pm.
