Methodology and organization
The Solidarity Sports Days (JES) last between four and five days and are coordinated by ex FC
Barcelona player Julio Alberto Moreno. He is in charge of the teacher training sessions and of
supervising the practical activities.
JES activities are divided into two blocks:
Morning sessions
Theory sessions aimed at approximately 25-30 local teachers that deal with such themes as:
- Planning, design and organisation of social and educational activities.
- Identification of vulnerable profiles.
- Importance and strength of sport as an educational tool.
- Transmission of values associated to sport.
- Other themes that could be of special interest in the region.
Afternoon sessions
Sporting, educational and artistic activities are organised with a dual objective. On the one
hand, to offer an opportunity for 150-200 children to do sport and learn values first hand from a
former FC Barcelona player. On the other, to enable the teachers to put into practice the skills
they have learned in the morning sessions, all supervised by Julio Alberto.
The afternoon activities are divided into two blocks:

Sports sessions. The boys and girls do sport and physical activity on specially
equipped fields. The sports tend to be football, basketball, volleyball, handball, etc.

Education sessions. These are held in the classroom and have has a core theme the
values of sport. Depending on the country and possible local collaborators talks and debates are
included to discuss local problems, such as:
- Health and sport.
- Acquisition of healthy habits (hygiene, personal care, etc.).
- Gender equality.
- Ecology.
- Risks of immigration.
- Techniques to promote the children’s socialisation.
- Strengthening self-esteem.
