In Senegal, as in other West African countries there are numerous ‘talibes’ children, infants who begin in the street and live in very precarious situations, forced in some occasions to child labour. Many are orphans or belong to poor families from the rural areas who send them to the larger cities to learn the Qur'an at the koranic schools called – ‘daares’-.
  • Beneficiaries
The trainers, teachers and primary education instructors who participated in these workshops belong to the city schools. 150 youths of this area and with a high vulnerability index - 'talibes' children and infants from dysfunctional families or that live in extreme poverty conditions -.
  • Activities and results
Theory sessions for educators and practical sessions with the youths were conducted in these Workshops on Solidarity and Sport, where teachers applied their new skills.

In the afternoons, work groups were organised between the 150 participant boys and girls, and sport and leisure activities with "values and sport" as a leitmotiv were conducted.
  • Collaborating entities
    City Council of Richard Toll
Association Sénégalaise pour le Bien-être Famillial.
