An expedition organised by Pallassos Sense Fronteres (Clowns Without Frontiers) and the Circ Cric,
which involved the collaboration of Fundació FC Barcelona and Metges del Món (Doctors of the
World), travelled to Sierra Leone in order to put a smile on the faces of the children of a country
that suffers from the travesty of using children in the armed forces. Fundació FC Barcelona
collaborated in the project by supplying sports material as part of its commitment to social
actions and solidarity..
Clown and founding member of Pallassos sense Fronteres, Tortell Poltrona, received this
sports material personally from director Clàudia Vives-Fierro, who expressed her delight at the
initiative, saying “this is a new opportunity to take the idea of being ‘more than a
club’ to the world, helping boys and girls living in the midst of war. And to do so in
conjunction with an organisation like Pallassos sense Fronteres fills us with pride".
Tortell Poltrona said he was "very grateful to FC Barcelona and its Foundation for this
help". To organise the trip, assistance was provided by Father Chema Caballero, who is involved in
several projects in Sierra Leone, and the Metges del Món organisation, which has been operating in
this country for many years.
A few years ago, Pallassos sense Fronteres produced its play titled 'A school of noses:
let’s teach war a lesson!' which aims to raise awareness among society of the travesty of
using boys and girls in armed conflict, destroying their childhoods and lives, as is the case in
Sierra Leone.
