The squad, satisfied with the result

The Barça players emphasised the efficiency of the team after the game against Gimnàstic. The 3-0 win against the Tarragona team earns Barça the title of Winter Champions.

Efficiency is the most positive element that can be taken from the game against Gimnàstic. The second Barça goalscorer, Javier Saviola, declared his satisfaction with the good run of scoring form that he is currently enjoying. For their part, Oleguer and Zambrotta, underlined the good work in the Barça defence.

Here are some of the reactions of the players.

Saviola:

"It's a very good night, I don't think we can be too happy with our play, but certainly with our efficiency and the fact that we did everything possible to win the game."
"Personally I am very happy at the moment. The happiness of scoring goals is the best thing that can happen to me this season. As a team, sometimes it is not possible to play the good football we want, but in the end what counts is the result."
"The goal I scored came in one of those split-second moments where, without even looking at the goal, you must take a quick decision. The best explanation for my current form is the year by year progression that each player goes through. We know it's not always like this. Sometimes, confidence is low, so you have to make the best of it when times are good."
"As regards efficiency, I don't think we can ask for anything more, but the public is quite demanding here, so we must always try to play well and win."

Oleguer:

"It was a competitive match and it was important to get the 3 points. We were solid in defence and we were patient and calm tonight, unlike in some other games."
"Personally, there are positive things and some things I would like to correct. It is necessary to improve and get used to the pace of the game. It's been a while since I played two consecutive games. I don't understand why the crowd whistles. We always try to play well but the important thing is to keep the game under control and we did that."
"Gimnàstic pressurised us well, they were tight in defence. Although perhaps they lacked a cutting edge and the capacity to hurt us."

Giuly:

"The goal is split fifty-fifty (with Gudjohnsen). It's been a while since I scored and I had a lot of luck."
"It's good to score, but we'll see what happens in the future. My objective is not to score goals, I am a provider, a team player and now the team is doing well I feel we are doing well as a group."

Zambrotta:

"This was an important victory as it hasn't been a great time for us lately. It wasn't a fabulous game, but as always, the most important thing is to win."
"I think we did a good job in defence, in midfield and on the counterattack. We are doing well, we showed it tonight and we are happy about that."
"The whistles from the crowd surprised me. With 3-0 on the scoreboard it's strange that the crowd whistles. It's a question of getting used to the mentality of the Barça fans.

Iniesta:

"It's difficult to beat a well organised team - although it might not seem that way. This 3 points are very important. Now we are leaders and we have played a game less."
"You have to win games like tonight. They are not as spectacular as others, but that's part of the season."
"I'm happy about the goal and we should also be happy about being Winter Champions. At the same time we know that there is still a long way to go and the important thing is to finish top at the end of the season."
