No luck in the Super Cup

Barça were unable to claim their third European Super Cup, losing 3-0 in the final against Sevilla.

Sevilla had more time to prepare the match and demonstrated greater fitness and sharpness throughout the 90 minutes. Barça were hit by an early goal but had a few chances to equalise before conceding a second, scored by Kanouté, just before halftime. In the second half Sevilla sat back to defend their lead and catch Barça on the counterattack. Finally, in the 90th minute they made it 3-0 .
