Last SCAC meeting of the year

The last meeting of the Supporters’ Club Advisory Council in 2008 was held last 19 December. Vice-Chairman Alfons Godall was in the chair for the meeting and presided over the Christmas lunch organised beforehand.

The Supporters’ Club Advisory Council meeting was attended by virtually all its members and also by Vice-Chairman Alfons Godall and directors Xavier Bagués and Patrick Auset.

Alfons Godall spoke about the current position of the club to Council members. Items on the agenda included updating the list of supporters’ clubs, elections to the Supporters’ Club Advisory Council and the presentation of the new ticketing shop.

Updating list of clubs

Progress in updating the list of supporters’ clubs was discussed at the meeting. Even though the deadline for sending in details was last 30 November, there is still time for clubs to do the necessary paperwork. Clubs who fail to send in completed forms by 31 December will not be allowed to take part in Council elections and will not be able to enjoy the benefits of official status.

Elections on 21 or 22 March

The Supporters’ Club Advisory Council election timetable was also announced. Voting will take place on the day of the Barcelona v Malaga match at Camp Nou next 21 or 22 March. Ballots can be cast by post or in person.

Key dates before the final vote are as follows:

- From 1 to 12 January the list of supporters’ clubs which have complied with regulations and handed in their details will be published.

- On 12 January election rules will be sent out.

- On 9 February the guarantees for candidates for the Council will be collected.

- On 17 February the documents for voting in person or by post will be sent out.

New ticketing shop for supporters’ clubs

The last item on the agenda was the presentation of the new ticketing shop by Xavier Boixeda. This new internet-based service has lots of benefits for supporters’ clubs including exclusive seating, the option of buying up to the last minute, advantageous handling fee conditions and the chance to print off tickets from home.

Starting in the next few weeks all FC Barcelona supporters’ clubs will have access to this new application on the club’s website.
