Panadero, on penalties (6-5)
Sònia de Alba
Barça Sorli Discau had to wait till the eighth penalty to decide their OK League final game to go 2-0 in the series. Sergi Panadero tipped the balance in a very tight match
Barça Sorli Discau had home advantage against Liceo, but both sides were clearly hungry in the key
second game of the series.
A cracking game went to a penalty shootout, won by Barça Sorli Discau, who now go to La
Coruña knowing they got the job done at home.

Barça played with their usual attacking flair, and for much of the game, it
was as if Liceo were on a damage limitation exercise.
The first 20 minutes were almost all for Barça, with Panadero hitting the post.
Liceo beat Egurrola
But as the half drew to a close, Liceo won an important free hit, and Martín Payero’s
effort struck Egurrola.
But the same player latched onto the rebound and gave his side a thoroughly undeserved 1-0
lead at the break.
Galicians improve
Jose Querido’s side found new vigour in the second half, and following an onslaught on
the Barça area were rewarded with a second goal from a narrow angle, the work of Jordi Bargalló.

The joy didn’t last long for Liceo. Following a second yellow card
for their Jesús Gende, Sergi Panadero made no mistake with the free to make it 1-2.
Barça were back in it, and a play involving Páez and Panadero in the 37th minute saw the
latter fire home a lethal equaliser.
Mia Ordeig then completed the comeback with a cracking goal from a counter attack, Barça were
now in command.
But a late Carlos López foul gifted Liceo a penalty. Jordi Bargalló scored and the game ended
3-3.
Overtime and penalties
Into golden goal extra time and chances went begging for either side. But it looked like
curtains for Liceo when Barça were given a second half penalty. However, penalties aren’t
easy to score in this game, and Borregán missed, meaning it was all going to go down to a shootout.
After the first five hits, only Panadero and Bargalló had scored, so it was now down to
sudden death.
Carlos López scored for Barça, but Bargalló responded coolly with a goal of his own. López
and Bargalló both missed the respective sevenths. But Panadero made no mistake with strike number
eight, while Bargalló failed this time, and Barça could celebrate a win that puts them 2-0 in the
series. So they now have three chances in a row to seal yet another Spanish league title.
