Carles Cascante

Blaugrana Jerome Fernandez has just become Olympic champion despite getting injured in a first round match. His French national team overcame Iceland 28-23 in the final. Jerome celebrated the win with his team mates.

The French national team have won Olympic gold in Beijing after overcoming Iceland in the final by a thumping 28 goals to 23. The game was marked by an outstanding eight goals from the world’s best player, Nikola Karabatic.

Much superior

France were leading 15-10 at half-time and the impression was that the Scandinavians could do little more. The difference between the teams was nine goals at one stage and it was such that France took their foot off the accelerator towards the end.
