Mikkel Hansen has reached an agreement to sign for FC Barcelona's handball team and will put pen-to-paper on a deal for the next three-and-a-half seasons after leaving Gudme.

The Dane is full of potential at just 20 and highlighted his ability in the Champions League against Barça last term when he scored six goals in each of the two games. Hansen netted a total of 148 goals for Gudme, despite not being a regular in the side and once threw 14 goals, which is a record.

A full international, Hansen has played twice for Denmark and he helped the team to win the European Men's Handball Championhips in Norway in January.

From football to handball
If somebody had told Mikkel Hansen that he would be a professional handball player when he was very young then he would not have believed them. As a small boy, the Dane wanted to be a football player, but his throwing ability meant his friends encouraged him to play handball and now he is set to make his mark in the sport.
