Jerome: “I’m happy to be home”

Verònica Díez

Jerome Fernández, one of Barça’s trio of medal winners in the Handball EURO 2008 in Norway, is glad to be back in Barcelona, as are team-mates Kasper Hvidt and Jesper Noddesbo.

FC Barcelona’s three European medal winners have resumed training with the squad. They’re delighted with their gold and bronze medal successes in Norway and ready to help Barça face the next phase of the season.

Bronze gives way to gold

According to Kasper Hvidt: “We’re almost been champions on several occasions and now, I don’t know if it’s luck or because we played better, we’ve done it”. Jesper Noddesbo is convinced the victory will boost the team’s confidence: “For me, it’s important to win the gold medal. Apart from giving confidence to the team, it gives confidence to me. Kasper played very well throughout the tournament and that’s why he got the award for best goalkeeper”.

Now it’s Barça’s turn

Jerome Fernández, who won a bronze medal in Norway, is now focussing on success with Barça: “I’ve got a lot of hopes riding on the league and the Champions League. I believe we can win these competitions”.

Nagy suspended for next game
Laszlo Nagy will miss this weekend’s game against Teucro because of his dismissal, and subsequent one-game suspension, against Natur House La Rioja. This means that Nenadic will probably make his Barça debut.
