Fifth game unbeaten (0-0)

Edgar Fornós/Berta Brau

With the draw against Valencia Mestalla, Barça’s reserves are now on a five game unbeaten streak.

Barça Atlètic visited Valencia Mestalla determined to come away with a win and maintain their unbeaten run. The Catalans began well and dominated play, though they had problems creating chances. As the game wore on, however, the home side clawed their way back into the match.

Evenly balanced

mestallabcn05.JPGLuis Enrique’s team were more threatening and their best chance in the first half came in the 34th minute when Rueda fired in a low drive that home keeper Salva did well to save. Though the Catalans created more chances, Valencia Mestalla had perhaps the best opportunity of the game when Michel hit the bar in the 38th minute. However, neither side could break the deadlock and they went into the break with the game scoreless.

Going for goal

mestallabcn12.JPGAfter halftime Barça Atlètic came out all guns blazing and took control of the game, looking for a goal which just wouldn’t come. In the 57th minute the Catalans had an excellent chance when Rochina connected with a Nolito cross but he sent the ball just wide. Then a good move by Nolito, Víctor Vázquez and Maric looked as though it would put Barça Atlètic ahead but Salva blocked Goran Maric’s strike.

Five games unbeaten

After 90 minutes neither side had managed to score so the points were shared. That means Barça Atlètic’s run of unbeaten games now stretches to five, and it hasn’t conceded a goal in two.
