Brazilian efficiency (0-3)

Roger Bogunyà

Brazil beat Barca B 0-3 in a friendly played this Tuesday afternoon with Lucas, Pato and Fernandinho on target for the South Americans, who were already two up after just 15 minutes.

The game, played on Pitch number 2 at the Ciutat Esportiva, was a chance to see the Brazilians in their second game under new coach Menezes, who sent out a starting line up including Alves, Robinho and Ramires, whilst the B team put out a team of players who had not taken part in Sunday’s game against Xerez.

Lucas puts Brazil ahead

Luis Enrique’s players didn’t seem overawed at the start though and looked adventurous and in control in midfield, before a rapid counter attack saw Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva put Brazil one up.

Pato makes it two

The Brazilians gave a tough lesson to the B team players of how efficient top class teams can be, scoring on the only two occasions they had threatened Masip’s goal. The goals set Barca B back and they were unable to impose their possession football as they had at the start. Only two long range efforts from Abraham gave Almeria keeper Diego Alves any work in the first half.

Barca B improve, but Fernandinho scores

The game lacked intensity at times, but Barca B seemed to improve as the half went on. However, although Dalmau and Benja looked sharp around the box, the B team were unable to create a single chance and it was Brazil, through the Shaktar Donetsk man Fernandinho, who got the only goal of the half, again taking advantage of a lost Barca B ball in midfield.
