Not only the shirt, but also the shorts and socks are black. Like the first strip, which was revealed on May 18, it is a modern design made of recycled materials to reduce the carbon footprint.

First use of black

FC Barcelona have never worn this colour before, but this season Nike wanted to offer something new. Last year’s turquoise green design with the red and blue trim was a massive hit, and will be kept this season as the third strip.

Members and fans visiting the store on Tuesday responded well to the new colours. They were particularly impressed by the elegant, modern look, as revealed to www.fcbarcelona.cat and Barça TV.

The colour yellow is only used for the names of the sponsors, Qatar Foundation and Unicef, and for the player’s names and numbers. The finishing touch is a grey line from the collar to the sleeve.

Recent second strips

The last colours used for the second strip have been yellow (2008/2009), mango (2009/2010) and turquoise green (2010/2011).
