‘Play-It’ passes the test

www.fcbarcelona.cat

The FCB Foundation’s online educational website, ‘Play-It’, has ended the third course with a record 55,000 visits and incorporated a new guide for teachers.

The www.juga-la.cat website is sponsored by the FCB Foundation and is used mainly by teachers and pupils from schools in Catalonia. It has finished the 2009/10 academic year with excellent results. The website, which provides educational activities for primary and secondary school children, has clocked up 54,913 visits – nearly half a million page hits. These are the best figures in the three years of the site.

New teachers’ guide

One of the innovations this year has been the inclusion of a teachers’ guide, explaining the aims of the project and the resources available and how they can be incorporated in the day-today curriculum. The aim of ‘Play-It’ is to encourage the development of civic values among schoolchildren.

Real life examples

The resources are divided into three themed blocks offering a hundred activities based on oral expression, written expression or a combination of the two. These encourage the development of positive values as expressed through sport, in large part using real cases.

A large range of activities
“Without rivals there wouldn’t be any games. You have to know how to win and how to lose”; “Alexandra Panayotou: a woman who runs for good causes”; “Armstrong overcomes a serious illness and wins the Tour de France seven times”. These are just some of the activities that were available this course. Each one has a text, a video or an idea that invites reflection and debate. For the next course, ‘Play-It’ will include new activities that allow the children to take exercise and work on the positive values of sport.
