FC Barcelona and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are coming together at the Joan Gamper Trophy to publicise the work of the “More than a Club” campaign and to commemorate the first World Humanitarian Day on 19t

The 44th edition of the Joan Gamper will not just be about football. FC Barcelona, via the Foundation, and UNHCR will be joining forces to remind us all of the plight of the 16 million refugees and asylum seekers and the 26 million internally displaced people.

Unique shirts

The shirts of the More than a Club campaign that will be worn by the players in the match against Manchester City will be auctioned in September on the SocialBid website that forms part of Ebay.

The money raised from the sale of the 1899 edition of the shirts and by the auction will go to finance projects of the FC Barcelona Foundation and UNHCR, projects that promote sport and education for young and vulnerable refugees.

This special collectors’ edition of the shirt is on sale at the Nike mega store in the Camp Nou, the Nike store in Barcelona’s famous Paseo de Gracia 29 and the Nike Store at Ramblas number 120, also in Barcelona.

World Humanitarian Day

August 19th was designated by the UN General Assembly “to contribute to increasing public awareness about humanitarian assistance activities worldwide and the importance of international cooperation in this regard, as well as to honour all humanitarian and United Nations and associated personnel who have worked in the promotion of the humanitarian cause and those who have lost their lives in the cause of duty."
