Convincing ACB debut (83-58)

Llorenç Tarrés

Regal Barça made their ACB debut with a convincing 83-58 win over Gran Canaria. Xavi Pascual’s team showed all their attacking power to overcome opponents who made the mistake of trying to go toe to toe with them.

2010-10-03_FCB_REGAL_-_GRAN_CANARIA_2014_001.jpgStraight from the off, Barça showed their superiority, racing to a 55-36 point lead at the break, with Navarro top scoring on 18 and Morris, Mickeal and Ricky, who broke his personal record with 11 assists, also putting in solid stats. The 31 points the team racked up in the first 10 minutes was more than they managed in any game last season and the 55 at half time also beat any similar score last year.

Strong start

2010-10-03_FCB_REGAL_-_GRAN_CANARIA_2014_008.JPGNavarro and Mickeal soon set up an 11-2 lead as Pedro Martinez’s team showed far too soft a centre to withstand the European Champions. Every attack seemed to produce points and two elegant flashes from Morris took the score to 24-7 before Lakovic rounded the first quarter off with a three pointer.

All over at half time

2010-10-03_FCB_REGAL_-_GRAN_CANARIA_2014_033.jpgDespite Gran Canaria’s Carroll getting onto the scoresheet with 10 quick points, Barça continued to dominate in the second quarter and with Perovic(8 points with four out of four success) made his ACB debut and together with Ndong helped to dominate the interior game as his team wound up the first half with a 55-36 lead.

Lead stretched

After the break, five points from Navarro and a 2+1 from Pete Mickeal stretched the lead beyond 20 points (67-43) and a three `pointer from Morris really hit the visitors hard, before Barça took their foot off the accelerator in the fourth quarter, when Xavi Pascual also gave B team youngster Aparicio a chance to shine.
