Good teamwork

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Regal Barça have come away with an important road win at Zalgiris, and without two important players. It was the team in general that is to be commended.

The 70-77 win over Zalgiris puts Regal Barça on 3-0, tied at the top with Montepaschi. Xavi Pascual’s men dealt expertly with the Lithuanian assault in a game that saw some excellent basketball from both sides.

The following were some of the reactions after the match.

Xavi Pascual, coach of Regal FC Barcelona

“We are happy to have won and played some very special basketball. These are some of the best fans in Europe.”

“It was a very nice first half. Despite missing Navarro and Basile, a major handicap for us, the players made a big step forward, considering both players play in the same position.”

“We got better in the third and built up an important lead. Midway through the fourth period we got another big lead, but Marcus Brown annulled it with two three pointers. But then we worked hard to find solutions and ended up winning.”

Pete Mickeal

“We played serious and made some key throws. Jaka Lakovic got two decisive threes.”

“Xavi trusted me with lots of minutes. I think we were consistent and winning here was very important.”

Erazem Lorbek

“I think the key to the game was controlling rebounds. We won those and that helped us win the match.”

“It was a tough game for us but we held onto our concentration. We did well in offence and in defence when we had to.”
Good teamwork
Pascual gets ovation
The Regal Barça coach was given an ovation in the pressroom after the game. Xavi Pascual was full of praise for his Zalgiris opposition. “Zalgiris is a very good team and very hard to beat especially on this court.” The Baltic press evidently also wanted to congratulate Barça on their excellent display.
