Ricky: six months of pure magic

On Monday, Ricky Rubio has been a Regal FC Barcelona player for exactly six months, during which time he has already collected three medals. It seems that Ricky has the magic touch.

Ricky donned a Regal Barça shirt for the first time on 1st September 2008 for the medical and media presentation. But he also gave a short demonstration of what he can do on court. Now, just six months later, Ricky has settled in to the Club and become a vital part of the basketball team.

Mission accomplished

When he signed for Regal Barça, Ricky Rubio told reporters: “I’m here to win titles”. In his case it was no sooner said than done! Since then he has won three competitions out of three.

First up was the Lliga Catalana on 27th September. This day was doubly significant for Ricky as he was up against his former team, DKV Joventut. Barça won 38-62 and Ricky was chosen as MVP. A few days later on 3rd October, it was the turn of the ACB Super Cup, where Regal Barça beat Real Madrid 86-82.

Finally, a few days ago, Regal Barça won the Kings Cup in Bilbao. They beat Cajasol (77-72) in the quarterfinals, Power Electrics Valencia (64-72) in the semis and, once again, Real Madrid (80-61) in the final, Ricky scoring 13 points. Now he can look forward to the ACB league and the Euroleague.
