Regal FC Barcelona’s Turkish power forward, Ersan Ilyasova, has been named the Euroleague MVP for October after his excellent performances against Nancy and Panathinaikos.

Ilyasova had a superb game against the French champions as he scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds during the 23 minutes and 16 seconds he was on court. He also got a rating of 26. In the Catalans’ second game against Panathinaikos, Ilyasova once again set the pace even though he had less time on court: in 19 minutes and 59 seconds he scored 14 points, got six rebounds and a rating of 18. Ilyasova has also put in some fine performances in the ACB League.

Starter in seven out of eight games

Ilyasova has started seven out of Regal FC Barcelona’s eight competitive games (two in the Euroleague and six in the ACB League) this season. He only missed out in the ACB League clash with Pamesa Valencia on matchday three, yet still managed to rack up 9 points and 10 rebounds with a rating of 18 in the 29 minutes he spent on court.

Fran misses his second ACB game
Stomach flu forced in-form Fran Vázquez to sit out a game for only the second time in his career. The other occasion was on 7 December 2003, in the Casademont Girona v. Auna Gran Canaria clash. Curiously enough, his current team mate Jordi Trias was playing for the Girona outfit that day.
