AXA FC Barcelona loan out Ukic

Roko Leni Ukic will be playing on loan for Lottomatica Rome next season after AXA Barcelona reached an agreement with the Italian club and teh Croatian player today.


Lottomatica Rome, coached by Jasmin Repesa and with Dejan Bodiroga as technical director, are confident that Ukic will do a job for them. The coach and current Croat selector was vital in the decision of the Italian team to sign Ukic, and the agreement between the two clubs and the player himself was complete.

Ukic, satisfied

The Barca guard expressed his satisfaction with the deal from Zagreb, where he is preparing for the European Championships with Croatia. “I’m very satisfied with the way things have turned out. If I play well, I’ll get the chance to lead a team in the European League, which I haven’t had over the last few years”. Ukic also praised Jasmin Repesa: “I’ve always worked well with Repesa and when I heard there was a chance to gout on loan, I jumped at the opportunity”.

Joining up with Drejer and Fucka

Ukic will find himself alongside fellow ex-Barca players Dejan Bodiroga (up in the offices), the Dane Christian Drejer, who’s just joined from VidiVici Bolonya and also Gregor Fucka who has signed up after a season at Akasvayu Girona.

Ukic played a total of 708 minutes during his season with Barca – featuring in 48 league games, 23 European League ties, 3 Copa del Rei games, 2 ACB Super Cup matches and two games in the Catalan League. Roko Leni Ukic averaged 6 points a game and two assists, totaling 33% effectiveness in shooting and nearly 50% in three pointers and free shots.
