FCB part company with Dusko Ivanovic

On Thursday lunchtime, FC Barcelona informed Dusko Ivanovic that the Club had decided to dismiss him from his duties as senior basketball coach.

Deputy coach Xavier Pascual will take over in a caretaker role for the time being.

Pascual will make his debut tonight (8.45 pm) in the game between AXA FC Barcelona and Unicaja de Malaga in the first game of the Top 16.

Cubells explains basketball shake-up

Josep Cubells, the director responsible for the basketball section, told Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.cat: “Events were speeded up due to the statements made yesterday afternoon saying that he didn’t have sufficient confidence in the team. Therefore, as of today (Thursday), Xavi Pascual, up to now assistant coach, will, for the moment, be in charge of the team”.

Mr Cubells stressed that no further comment would be made on this decision today: “We have to bear in mind that the game against Unicaja is important because it’s the first game in the Euroleague Top 16”. There will be a press conference on Friday to explain this decision, which affects the technical management of the basketball team”.
