Savic: “We want the Liga”
Carles Cascante
The Winterthur FC Barcelona technical secretary has appeared confident on Barça TV, saying he believes in the team’s ability to reach the final.
Apart from the semi final against Tau Ceramica, Zoran Savic has also spoken of the developments
going on at the club, the other semi final between Madrid and DKV and finally, how he sees the
match up between San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Caveliers for the NBA title; both teams having
ex-blaugranas in their line ups. Savic, whose a friend of Francisco Elson from his time as a Barça
player, prefers the title to go to the Texan team.
Success due to the magic of Palau
Zoran Savic is in no doubt that the public in Palau “is understood in
Basketball” and the atmosphere it creates “will be key”: “We’ll try
to fill it with 7000 shirts and we will have also bring in extra help to create noise. Palau is a
difficult place to come to when it’s full and even more so for the big occasions”. The
technical secretary also explained that if the team qualifies for the final, the club “will
continue looking for initiatives to create a good atmosphere.”
Change of chip from first to second game
As an ex player, Savic knows how the dynamics of a team work and now, Barça’s dynamics
are that of a winning team. He considers that the blaugrana have a slight advantage after having
levelled the tie: “The difference between the first and second games was dependent on the
start. In the second, the team came out strong and in particular, Denis Marconato did a fantastic
job”.
Third key game
Savic hopes that Dusko Ivanovic’s team “play with confidence in their abilities.
We’re in good shape physically and mentally and I think this third game can be key as it
would leave us close to the final.”
Regarding the team’s chances of playing in next season’s Euroleague, the
technical secretary does not believe the players are thinking about that: “the objective is
non other than win the Liga. We’ve always been thinking about that. It’s not so
important the fact that we finished fourth in the regular season.”
