Navarro gives way to Scola

Tau Cerámica’s Luis Scola has been chosen as the ACB league’s MVP for the 2006/07 season. Navarro, who won last season’s accolade, presented him with the trophy on Monday.


The neck and neck race between Barça Guard Juan Carlos Navarro and Luis Scola for recognition as the best player in the regular phase of the ACB league has finally been won by Luis Scola. The Argentine Forward previously won the award in the 2004-05 season.

TROFEO_MVP.JPGThe result was announced on Monday morning as part of the public presentation of the league play-offs. The trophy was handed over by last year’s winner, Juan Carlos Navarro.

Navarro has been this season’s top points scorer with an average of 17.3, beating Luis Scola by a narrow margin (17 points). Both players were included in the ACB Ideal Five together with Prigioni (Tau), Fernández (DKV Joventut) and Felipe Reyes (Real Madrid).

The choice of Luis Scola as MVP was unanimous. The four groups of voters (fans, press, players and coaches) all voted for him, giving him a total of 100 points (25 each). Juan Carlos Navarro finished second among players and coaches (15 points), third among the press (10 points) and fourth among the fans (5 points), giving him a total of 45 points.
