The best month for Jordi Trias
Trias is on fire. After being named MVP in the most recent edition of the cup, the Trias continues to add to his reputation and has added another award to his list of prizes. The Barça pivot has been named the best non-foreigner player for the month.
The Winterthur FC Barcelona number ‘8’ was named the best player in the ACB League for
February after three big games during this period in which he has played an decisive role in the
overall improvement of the team coached by Dusko Ivanovic. In just three weeks Barça have moved up
from eight to fourth place.
February, his month
Without doubt the month of February has been an interesting month for Jordi Trias. In the
three games he played in Malaga, the Barça pivot scored an average of 14,6 points; 6,3 rebounds; 2
assists and 1 block per game, with an average rating of 24 in the three games Winterthur FC
Barcelona played against Unicaja, Joventut and Real Madrid. These performances earned him the MVP
of the competition.
In the other ACB games, Trias had an average rating of 21,0 points during February. He
achieved his highest rating of 26 points in the game against Etosa. Overall the three games
resulted in some impressive averages: 9,3 points, 8,7 rebounds, 3,7 assists, 0,3 recoveries, 1
block and 4,3 fouls received.
Scola, the other MVP
Trias acknowledged that this latest award is a “great delight” and added that
“the team is in good form and so am I, so everybody is happy now”. Also, Trias said
that it was a great honour to be chosen for the award along with TAU player Luis Scola. “To
be player of the month along with Luis Scola is a great honour for me because he is a player I have
always admired.”
An ambitious group
The good recent form of Winterthur FC Barcelona makes Jordi Trias particularly pleased. After
beating Fontajau last weekend on the court where he made his professional debut on the 31st of
October 1999, Trias said that after a inconsistent start this team now aims to win everything:
“Right now we’re very happy with the way things are going, but we can’t relax. We
are an ambitious group and we want to continue in the same vein in both the ACB and the
Euroleague.”
