FC Barcelona’s athlete Jackson Quiñónez finished eighth in the final of the 110m hurdles in the Peking Olympic Games. The Barça sprinter, who achieved his personal goal of reaching a final, was happy with his second Olympic appearance.

Jackson Quiñónez ran in 13.69, a result distant from the Spanish record held by him (13.33), in the finals of the 110m hurdles. The FC Barcelona athlete finished eighth in a race dominated from the beginning by Dayron Robles. The Cuban crossed the finish line with a time of 12.93. Robles holds the world record for this distance with a time of 12.87.

Behind Robles came the two North American runners Payne and Oliver, at just over 13 seconds.

Satisfied

“These were my second Olympics, the first with the Spanish team, and I wanted to enjoy them and I did. I also suffered from tension and uncertainty typical on these occasions but I really enjoyed it, especially the atmosphere in the Olympic village”, said Quiñónez emotionally.

Asked if he had changed his way of running in the final the Barça athlete answered: “I have changed my way of running on previous occasions, but recently I have gone back to my original style and I’m happy.”

Jackson Quiñónez was also affected by tiredness: “It’s obvious that my strength isn’t what it was on the first day, but as the competition continues your legs start to get heavy and it wasn’t the time to challenge the Spanish record. It was more important to finish well in the four races I ran.
