Eighth Spanish Super Cup

The first of the season’s four titles to be conquered was the Spanish Super Cup, as Barca beat Atletico (the team they’d seen off in the Spanish Cup final a few months earlier) 5-1 on aggregate over two games in August 2009.

The first leg at the San Mames saw Pedro score the winner in a 1-2 result after De Marcos had put the Basques ahead and Xavi had equalised for Barca in the second half.

Messi and Bojan finish the job

With the win in Bilbao under their belts, Barca went into the second leg at the Nou Camp as clear favourites and they didn’t disappoint the fans who saw Messi score twice and Bojan grab a third as they took their first title of the season – their eighth Spanish Super Cup ( 3-0 ).
