Fifty years of history: part 2 (1982-2007)

In the 25 years since the 1982 World Cup, the Camp Nou has continued to host a variety of important sporting and social events, including many benefit matches. We highlight the most important landmarks of the last 25 years.

06/07/1985. Lluís Llach concert: The Camp Nou was packed to the rafters to listen to this emblematic Catalan singer-songwriter. A day that has gone down in the history of Catalan music.

10/09/1988. Concert for Amnesty International: This concert brought together famous names such as Sting, Youssou N’Dour, Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel, El Último de la Fila and Bruce Springsteen.

05/09/1989. Testimonial match for Migueli: The Camp Nou paid an emotional tribute to Migueli, who holds the Club record for matches played. The match between Barça and Bulgaria ended 3-1.

07/06/1992. A league title won in the final seconds: Barça beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0, with goals from Stoichkov, but had to wait for the final whistle of the match between Tenerife and Real Madrid, which Tenerife won 3-2. The stadium experienced the tension of a last-minute title win in real time.

08/08/1992. Final of the Olympic Games football tournament: Spain, featuring Albert Ferrer and Pep Guardiola, beat Poland 3-2 in the final.

20/06/1993. A second league title won at the last moment: Barça beat Real Sociedad 1-0 and Real Madrid lost for the second year running in Tenerife (2-0). Barça lifted their third consecutive league title and the second in front of their fans in the Camp Nou.

14/05/1994. A third league title won at the last moment!: Barça beat Sevilla 5-2 and this time the luck came from La Coruña. With the scoreboard standing at 0-0 in the match between Deportivo and Valencia, Djukic missed a last minute penalty to hand the fourth league title to Johan Cruyff.

07/11/1995. Benefit match for UNICEF: The stadium hosted a benefit match between a Europe XI and an American XI that ended 3-4.

13/07/1997. Concert of the Three Tenors: Josep Carreras, Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti gave a concert in front of 70,000 spectators.

28/11/1998. Inauguration of the Centenary celebrations: A marvellous party in the stadium with the “Centenary song” and the Barça anthem, sung by the Catalan singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat, kicked off a year of celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of FC Barcelona.

10/03/1999. Testimonial match for Johan Cruyff: The Camp Nou was completely sold out to pay tribute to the manager that won the first European Cup. Barça played a team made up of members of the legendary ‘Dream Team’ (2-0).
