‘La Bomba’ comes back in style

After a single season in the NBA with Memphis Grizzlies Juan Carlos Navarro decided to take up Regal Barca’s offer to return to Spain and lead a team set on taking titles.

Navarro insisted when he came back to the club that he was more than happy to take up the challenge and over a fantastic season he more than proved his worth.

The Catalan guard soon took to his new role as leader of the team and alongside other stars such as Andersen, Vázquez or Ilyasova he proved vital to the team’s 15th league title. It was his own 5th title, but this time he took it as a real leader of the team.

Sporting maturity

At the age of 28, Navarro decided that after a difficult, but enriching season in the States, it was time to show his increased maturity on centre stage at the Palau.and he really lived up to expectations in an excellent season. As well as being the team’s leading Euroleague scorer with an average of 14.7 points a game, he also led the ACB scoring with 16 points and led the assists table with 3.6 a game in Europe and 4.8 in the ACB.

MVPs

This increased maturity was also reflected in the number of individual awards he picked up, including MVP in the Euroleague regular season and MVP in the ACB League play offs, reflecting his excellent performances, particularly in the final against TAU.
