Location
The centre is located in the district of Dowa, more specifically in the town of
Chezi. Malawi is one of the countries most affected by Aids, with one million HIV positive and
86,000 deaths a year due to this pandemic. More than 1.3 million children are orphans and survive
thanks to the Community aid or to the help from their older brothers, who leave school in search of
resources to keep their family.
Beneficiaries The beneficiaries are 100 boys and girls of ages between 6 and 16 chosen among those in the
most vulnerable situation. The majority are orphans due to Aids.
Activities and results The centre is in an initial stage and has carried out sport activities, school reinforcement
lessons and leisure activities for the younger. The XICS Malawi has also provided a medical
monitoring of young children, at the Health Centre Sant Mary Rehabilitation. Finally, literacy
lessons were given to children who left school early.
