Bartra: “its’ easier if we are at the top”

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Barça B Marc Bartra is happy with the start to the season the team have made and stressed the importance of the second successive clean sheet at the weekend.

“Maybe we didn’t quite expect such a good start, but we know that with the hard work and sacrifice we are putting in in training, we were going to get there. Obviously we want to win, but we also need to become better players, continue playing and get match time in. Of course, it’s easier if we are at the top and you get to the training sessions much happier which is important too”.

Partnering Muniesa

Bartra has paired Marc Muniesa in the last two games and he explained: “we understand each other well and there’s a lot of communication between us. Keeping a clean sheet is important because we are a team who will always get goals, though we have to concentrate on making sure we don’t concede, which we’ve managed to do these last two games and will hope to keep up”.

Tough rival

Finally, we pulled it off, but after we scored they really came at us. They have fast players and created a lot of danger. Fortunately, Miño was on good form”.

Making the Mini a hard place to visit

The players are aware of how tough the second division can be and Muniesa insisted: “all the games are hard and we need to make the Min Estadi a really hard place for teams to come to and take as many points as we can”.

Confidence

Víctor Vázquez is one of the most experienced players in the squad and he expressed his confidence in the team after the weekend’s win: “we are working hard to try and win every game and play well. We are improving at the back, but at this level there are a lot of teams who close up and then hit you hard with counter attacks. I think that with the young talent we have and the desire the players are showing we won’t have any problems settling into this division. That’s what we are after – stay up and not have to worry about going down”.

Guardiola at the game
One man who was watching the win over Numancia carefully was Pep Guardiola, who sat in the stands for the game with Tito Vilanova and Luis Enrique commented: “it’s fantastic that the players can see that Pep is there and understand what they need to be a Barac player. If Pep comes and speaks to the lads is great. I would have been really thrilled if the first team boss had turned up to watch me when I was in the reseves. At this club, more than at any other, there is a proximity between the first team manager, Tito and the people at the club”.
