Emphatic semi final win (51-74)

Roger Bogunyà

Regal Barça reached the final of the ACB Super Cup for the first time in five years with an emphatic 51-74 win over Gran Canària 2014.

Barca's exhibition silenced the home crowd as they raced to 19-31 lead in the second quarter with some excellent basketball based primarily on a display of intense, concentrated defence. By half time, the locals could do no more and as Barca's new signings also began to swing into action in attack, the game was virtually over by half time when the scores stood at 26-39 and it was clear who'd be playing in Saturday's final.

Morris on target

lorbekGRAN.jpgAfter an uncertain start with Ndong and Mickeal getting Barca's first 10 points and Gran Canaria hitting the Barca defence with a series of quick counters that left the score 13-15 after the first quarter the visitors took control in the second when Morris popped up with a couple of three pointers that set up an 11 point flurry which sent the teams in at 26-39 for the break.

Comfortable

fcb_grancan.jpgBarca were looking comfortable with a minimum15 point cushion and only Augustine and McDonald were keeping the hosts anywhere near the visitors who kept up their ferocious defence and began to open up in attack to end the third quarter 41-58 ahead. It was all as good as over as Gran Canaria heads dropped and Barac cruised into their first Super Cup final in 5 years with an emphatic 51-74 win.
