Montepaschi are Barça main Euro rivals

Regal Barça have been drawn in Group A of the regular phase of the Euroleague season along with Montepaschi, Cibona, Fenerbahce, Zalgiris and Asvel Lyon, after the draw took place in Barcelona this week.

Xavi Pascual and his team now know who they will be facing in the first round of European competition after the draw and the Blaugrana were picked out at the top of the group along with Sienna-based Montepaschi. Croatian champions Cibona Zagreb, Turkey's Ferenbahçe, Zalgiris Kaunas and Asvel Lyon will also be competing for a place in the Top 16.

Along with CSKA Moscow, Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, Barça Regal were first seeds in the draw as the quartet of teams participated in the FinalFour last season. This term the tournament will be played in Paris between May 7 and 9.

The first phase of the Euroleague will take place between October 21 and January 14. The first four in each group will qualify for the Top16.
