José Luis Páez Picón

José Luis Páez, better known as "El Negro", started skating aged just three years and when he was five he was already playing hockey at Concepción Patín Club in his home city, San Juan.

He developed into a fine player and Italian side Roller Monza signed him in 1987. Páez became one of his new side's key players both in Italy and in Europe.

In 1994 he joined FC Barcelona, where he has won every major roller hockey title on offer bar one, the European Cup Winners Cup. At Barca he has become the leader of the defence, and has played a vital role in the team's march to so many honours in recent years.

CHARACTERISTICS

A player from the Argentine school: a great skater, exquisitely skilful and has a powerful shot. He has become the brains of the team.

His presence on court adds even more quality and speed to the line-up. He has a highly competitive spirit and knows how to transmit that spirit to his team mates. This year he takes over the captaincy from his now retired compatriot Gaby Cairo. He is definitely one of the best roller hockey players ever to play for this Club.
