Mario Kasun

Kasun learnt his trade as a youngster in the youth sections of KK Zagreb, where he made his first team debut at just 18 years old.

In the same season he starred with the Croatian junior team who lost in the final of the European Cup against Juan Carlos Navarro?s Spanish team. After two seasons with KK Zagreb (1998-2000) he went to the Bundesliga where he signed for the Frankfurt Opel Skyliners.

In the 2002 NBA second round draft, he was named number 41 and after a swap ended up with the Orlando Magic in the 2003-04 season. He didn?t get too many minutes in the two seasons he was in the NBA, but made an impression at the 2005 European Championships, where he turned in some good stats – averaging 11.4 points and 6 rebounds a game, following which Barca made their first attempt to sign him during the 2005-6 season. Finally he joined the club on a three year contract in the summer of 2006.

A big strong player, Kasun dominates the area with his strength and presence. His explosive acceleration and specialist shooting combined with his intimidating defence and ability to block rebounds and start quick counter attacks, make his a dangerous all round asset.
