Gerard Piqué: “Our challenge is to win all six titles”

Barça’s Catalan centre half Gerard Piqué was present at the celebrations to mark the first anniversary of the Penya which carries his name in Sant Gium de Freixenet.

The supporters club, based in Piqué’s parents’ home town of Sant Guim de Freixenet (La Segarra) marked the anniversary with a gala lunch and a five a side football tournament and Piqué, along with Social Area Director, Pilar Guinovart and supporters' clubs ombudsperson Ramon Termens all attended the events, with Gerard presenting the prizes to the tournament winners.

Keen to make a good start

Piqué also spoke to the media and made it clear he’d set his sights on a good start to the season: “you have to get prepared to put in a good pre-season and be on form for the Spanish Super Cup and the European Super Cup in order to make a good start to the campaign. We have the chance of competing for six titles again, as well as the European Championships next summer, if we could win the World Club Cup next season, it’d be great for the Club”.

Piqué also sent a message of support to the Argentinean players at the Club, who were knocked out of the Copa America on Saturday night: “it’ll be a tough blow for them, but they’ll just have to pick themselves up quickly”.

Future signings

Inevitable, Piqué was also quizzed about the chances of seeing Cesc Fabregas at the Club this year and he revealed: “I know well what the situation is now” whilst preferring to ”let things run their course –the summer is long” and admitting that talking about Cesc right now “really doesn’t help”.
