On Saturday, October 18, on occasion of the first team’s trip to Bilbao, the Basque Country’s supporters clubs gathered for a fellowship supper, which was attended by vice-presidents Alfons Godall and Rafael Yuste plus director Xavier Bagués.

Inauguration of Penya Barcelonista Vitoria-Gasteiz Euskobarça headquarters

On occasion of the first team’s trip to Bilbao, the Penya Barcelonista Vitoria Gasteiz Euskobarça, one of the biggest supporters clubs in the Basque Country, inaugurated its new home base. The event was attended by vice-presidents Alfons Godall and Rafael Yuste, along with director Xavier Bagués, who were welcomed by a performance of the Txalaparta, a traditional Basque instrument, and then opened the new centre.

In the speeches, Alfons Godall congratulated the club on their new headquarters, which is decorated with all kinds of vintage Barça shirts, and dedicated some words to the delegate to the Euskadi Advisory Council, Patxi Martínez, and everybody else present in representation of different supporters clubs, in gratitude for the support they have always shown for Barça sentiments. The event concluded with the traditional exchange of gifts.

Fellowship supper with Basque supporters clubs

Around 10.00 in the evening, and at the “Sociedad Gastronómica Azkenean” a fellowship supper was held for all the Basque supporters clubs and other directors attending in representation of the club. 5 of the 9 currently active clubs and that comply with the region’s regulations were present: the hosts from Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Penya Indarra Barça, from Durango, the Penya d’Irun, and 2 recently formed but highly active clubs in Penya Blaugrana de Donosti and Penya Barcelonista Tolosarra. About 100 guests were there in all and the supper involved a delightful range of typical Basque dishes.

Proposed candidature to organise next World Supporters Club Meeting

The Penya Blaugrana de Donosti, despite being so young, took advantage of the event and the presence of FCB representatives to announce that they will be presenting a candidature to host the next World Supporters Club Meeting.

The club presented a dossier containing all the information necessary to be accepted as a valid contender to host the prestigious event.

Right now, the club has already received one other candidature in the form of that presented by the Penya Barcelonista Urgellenca, from Seu d’Urgell

The Penya Barcelonista Euskobarça very active
The Penya Barcelonista Euskobarça was officially registered in 1991 and since then has become one of the most active clubs from outside of Catalonia. They have a well updated website, and publish a bimonthly newsletter for their members in Spanish, Catalan and Basque.
It is one of the busiest clubs Barça has, with all kinds of activities held on a regular basis. They have a 7-a-side football competition, organise trips to the Camp Nou and also the recent II Meeting of Euskadi Supporters Clubs, to name but a few of their recent events.
Their website can be found at http://www.euskobarca.com
