The Penya Barcelonista Congrés is a leading light in the FC Barcelona supporters’ club movement but it’s also a reference point for the Barcelona city district of Congrés i els Indians. Over the last 25 years this supporters’ club has not only worked to promote the values of FC Barcelona but it has also helped to improve the local community.

And what better way is there to celebrate this special date than organising activities for the local people over an entire weekend. Hundreds of Barça fans took part in the event, which was brilliantly organised by SC president Vicenç Sarmiento, vice-president Pere Razzauti and their team.

FC Barcelona was represented by board member Xavier Bagués and former player, Julio Alberto Moreno. Many other SCs from the city of Barcelona together with the Sitges SC and the Repartidor de l’Hospitalet SC also attended the celebration. In addition, they were joined by about 70 people at the local civic centre.

The Barcelona city council was represented by councillor Gemma Mumbrú and district councillors, Enric Fernández, Rafael Fernández and Àngels Osó.

During the lunch, there was a special mention for the president of the host SC, Vicenç Sarmiento, who was one its founders and who has served as president for the last 24 years.

In his speech, Xavier Bagués was optimistic about Barça’s title hopes but called for the fans to be cautious and avoid taking anything for granted. He also called on all SC members to unite behind the team in the hunt for silverware. Bagués thanked the SC for their splendid efforts in favour of the Barça cause over the last 25 years.
