Taking advantage of the inauguration of the XICS in Tangiers, president Joan Laporta has visited the Barça supporters clubs in Tangiers and Tetuan. There, the president has been able to see first hand what support there is for the club in the country

On January 17 just gone, the supporters clubs based in Tangiers and Tetuan welcomed an FC Barcelona group led by president Joan Laporta.

Tangiers first

The Tangiers club was the first to be honoured by such a visit, and showed the visitors around the facilities, after which and they joined a typical Moroccan meal attended by some 100 people. The club has 30 members of all ages who said they watch every Barça game they can and when possible travel to Barcelona to see the first team at the Camp Nou.

An exchange of gifts was followed by musical performances that included a little girl playing the Barça anthem on her flute.

Visit to La Wilaya

Later the Barça entourage moved on to La Wilaya, the provincial institution, and were greeted by the governor of Tangiers-Alisah, Mohhammed Hassad.

Huge welcome in Tetuan

They then drove on to Tetuan. The journey took three quarters of an hour and took them to the Chaoudri sports centre, where they were received by 300 people. As soon as he arrived, Joan Laporta presented the trophies to the winners of a football tournament that had just finished. The tournament was organised by Hamad, an association that works for the physically, mentally and senrorially disabled in Tetuan

The presentation over, the next port of call was Hotel Champs, where they joined a supper held by the Tetuan supporters club. They were welcomed to the venue by a Rif Berber folk group, who gave a typically dance from the north of Morocco known as the Issaoua. In one of the main halls, with live music, more than 300 people enjoyed a typical Moroccan feast.
