FC Barcelona’s roller hockey first team Barça Sorli Discau came away from Alnimar Reus Deportiu with a point from an attractive game. They now have 55 points from 24 games, and Alnimar Reus Deportiu have 48.

The match started with a good chance to score falling to Negro Páez, but fortunately Egurrola pulled off a save by deflecting the ball with his arm. Then a couple of chances from Pedrito Gil and Marc Gual warmed up the home fans in the hall.

“Blaugrana” keeper Aitor Egurrola was kept busy during the first ten minutes and Barça Sorli Discau were lacking a little danger in attack. Danger arrived when Beto Borregán scored, only to have the goal disallowed because of a foul.

Platero makes it 1-0

Straight after this, Reus opened the scoreline with a goal from the youngster Platero, with the referee ignoring Barça’s pleas for a foul. Platero’s excellent attacking move left Egurrola with no chance.

The game livens up

After stopping for time, the game livened up towards the end of the first part, with both sides going for goal. Towards the end, Lluís Teixidó and Carlos López both came near to making it 1-1, but Guillem Trabal maintained a clean sheet.

Mia surprises

Just after play resumed, Mia Ordeig caught Reus’ defence off-guard. Taking a pass from Miquel Masoliver, Ordeig squeezed the ball between Trabal and the post to make it 1-1.

Gil takes control

Pedrito Gil, Reus’ leading goal scorer with 25 and joint top scorer in the championship, fought hard to regain the home side’s advantage but the score stayed all square. Gil himself had to leave the court from an injury he received from Sergi Panadero, who went to apologise. The pace didn’t ease off whilst Pedrito was out of the game, but neither side was able to take the lead.

Barça Sorli Discau seemed satisfied with a draw in the closing stage of the match, and didn’t want to risk anything in this classic in the world of hockey. Even when Pedrito came back on, Reus themselves seemed resigned to the final result.
