Ciudad Real and Gudme in Champions League

Barça Borges found out on Tuesday who they will be meeting in the second round of the Handball Champions League. The side coached by Manolo Cadenas faces Ciudad Real and GOG Svendborg Gudme.

The new format of the Champions League this season involves the first and second placed teams from one first round group being paired off with the first and second placed teams from another. The results of the games played between the two sides that already met in then first phase are carried over to the second round group.

That means that German side Kiel, who beat Barcelona twice and have also qualified, start with four points, while Barça have zero. Ciudad Real also did the double over Gudme, so the Spaniards start with four points and the Danes on zero.

In this second round group, Barça Borges will, of course, not have to play Kiel again.
