Barça win clash with local rivals (33-27)

Verònica Díez

Once again Barcelona have come out on top in their clash with Granollers. The 33 - 27 win means the azulgranas are still in with a chance of winning the title at just two points off the pace. Iker Romero top scored with seven.

Fraikin Granollers made it tough at first but Barça Borges gradually took control of the game. Halftime came at 17 – 14, and in the second half Barça retained their lead and never looked in any danger.

Evenly balanced

_M3_5157.JPGThe start of the game was evenly balanced with the 5-1 defence of Fraikin Granollers not letting Barça play. They first went ahead in the 11th minute at 6 - 5. Granollers stayed in the match for the next 11 minutes.

Scruff of the neck

Then in the 22nd minute Barcelona kicked off a run of 5 unanswered goals to take the game by the scruff of the neck before the break (16-11). Marco Antonio Oneto and Iker Romero played a decisive role. The halftime score of 17 - 14 suggested Barça were well on the way to winning.

Keeping the lead

In the 19th minute Cristian Ugalde notched up the biggest gap in the game at 29 - 20. It was now all over and in the remaining 11 minutes Barça held their lead to run out winners by 33 - 27.
