Barça’s futsal team blew apart Marfil Santa Coloma in today’s derby at the Palau and are in hunt for top spot after their best game of the season.

The players came out wearing shirts on support of the seriously injured Ari Santos, who showed his gratitude from the stands. He and the rest of the Palau were in for an absolute treat as Carmona’s side ran up eight goals.

Following an initial period of Barcelona pressure, Torras finally did the inevitable and broke the deadlock following an excellent combination with Igor. Marfil rotated their players in a desperate attempt to gain some control, but it was beyond them and Fernandão soon made it 2-0.

The visitors had barely assimilated that when Saad thundered in the third with his weaker right foot. Andreu Plaza, called a desperate timeout, but there was little he could do in game where it took nine minutes before Barça keeper Cristian had anything at all to do.

Marfil could conjure up nothing, and in a 3 on 1 situation Javi Rodríguez received a Wilde assist to make it four. By now, Carmona could afford to test out youth player Sepe as the half drew to a close.

Marfil had nothing to lose, and buoyed by a sizeable support from Santa Coloma they at least gave Cristian something to do, but it was little to trouble him. Barça soon made it five when Lin latched onto a loose ball in the area, and the man who set that move up, Lin, was the next to beat visiting keeper Javi Rodríguez.

Marfil, to their credit, battled on, but were soon down by seven when Chico converted a dazzling run, and the eight was topped up when Igor fed a killer pass that was slotted home by Fernandão.
