Into the cup in style (6-1)

Futsal side FC Barcelona Mobicat are through to the Spanish Cup after winning 6-1 at the Palau Blaugrana against Azkar Lugo.

The game got off to the best possible start with Barça scoring after just four minutes, and from that moment on there was no stopping the home side. It was already 6-0 by the break and there was nothing left to do in the second half, which only saw one consolation goal for Azkar Lugo (6-1). Cristian, who had been out for two games through injury, made his mark on his return, and was the big star of the last 20 minutes.

Saad gets things on their way

FC Barcelona only took four minutes to break the deadlock thanks to a Saad goal. The Brazilian-Italian scored from a narrow angle to fool Toni, the Azkar Lugo keeper, and squeeze the ball in close to the far post. Marc Carmona’s side was simply too strong for their guests, and were particularly weak at the back. Soon after Fernandao hit the post and Chico came close with a header, with Fernandinho the only one of the Galician side to cause any major headaches for Barça Mobicat.

Game resolved early

In the seventh minute, Jordi Sánchez made it two with a powerful shot from the right. Three minutes later, Fernandao passed straight to the feet of Javi Rodríguez, who took no prisoners and made it 3-0. The half ended with Barça dominating, Fernandao made it 4-0 after a splendid turn on the ball followed by a right-footed drive that the keeper was never going to stop. Jordi Sánchez scored his second of the night with 2:46 to go and there was still time after that for PC to make it six.

Cristian shows style

There was not much to be done in the second half for FC Barcelona Mobicat. The game was already decided and therefore they merely relaxed and let the minutes tick by. Thanks to that relaxation, Azkar Lugo enjoyed most of the chances, and it was time to Cristian to do his duty, the goalkeeper producing a string of fine saves. Miguel finally got the better of the Madrid-born stopper in the 14th minute of the second half, which did wake up Marc Carmona’s players a little, and there was to be no further score. The game slowly drew to an undramatic conclusion after all the high drama had already been produced in a stunning first half display.
